TF-AMD Joins the Thaipusam Celebration in Penang
Thaipusam is an annual festival in which Hindu devotees take part in and is one of the world’s most passionate spiritual celebrations.
On February 11, 2025, TF-AMD had the honour to join the vibrant Thaipusam celebration at Jalan Kebun Bunga, Penang, by setting up a festively decorated refreshment stall, also called Thaneer Panthal. As part of this long-standing tradition, TF-AMD employees volunteered to serve vegetarian food and drinks to devotees, embodying the company’s commitment to cultural appreciation and community engagement. The stall offered a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes, including Nasi Briyani, dhall, pumpkin, piquant mango masala and fried cabbage along with refreshing drinks to rejuvenate devotees during their spiritual journey.
Adding to the significance of the event, TF-AMD’s Managing Director, Kwee Swee Lian, was present and was honoured with traditional adornments, including a Thalapha (silk turban), a Ponnadai (shawl draped over dignitaries as a mark of respect) and a Malai (sandalwood garland).
The TF-AMD’s Thaneer Panthal also welcomed esteemed guests, including the Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow, as well as Ramkarpal Singh and Nethaji Rayer. They were also honoured with the Ponnadai and Malai, reflecting the unity and respect shared during this sacred festival.
TF-AMD extends its gratitude to all employees who dedicated their time and effort to making this celebration a success. Through participation in cultural events like Thaipusam, TF-AMD continues to foster inclusivity, strengthen community ties, and celebrate Malaysia’s rich heritage.
